Kazakhstan's electricity grid operator discloses volume of net profits

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 15. Kazakhstan KEGOC JSC (Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company) has received 36.1 billion tenge (about $78.5 million) of net profit from January through November 2023, Trend reports.

Compared to the same period in 2022, profit growth was 24.8 percent (for 11 months of 2022, profit was 29 billion tenge or about $63 million).

At the same time, this also exceeds the level of expected net profit for the entire 2023, which was previously planned at 31.5 billion tenge (about $68.5 million).

Income from main activities from January through November of this year amounted to 220.9 billion tenge (about 481 million). Compared to the same period in 2022, income from main activities increased by 25.8 billion tenge (about $56.1 million).

The company's revenue rose mainly due to an increase in the volume of services provided.

Meanwhile, electricity consumption in Kazakhstan for 10 months of this year amounted to 93.9 billion kWh, which is 2.5 percent more than in the same period last year.

In 2022, Kazakhstan produced 113.8 billion kWh of electricity, which is 1.1 percent less than in 2021.

Exports amounted to 2.2 billion kWh (+16.1 percent). The main buyers were: Russia – 1.5 billion kWh (+16.6 percent), Kyrgyzstan – 690 million kWh (+15.1 percent).

In turn, Kazakhstan bought 1.7 times more electricity than a year earlier - 3.7 billion kWh. Most of it was imported from Russia - 1.9 billion kWh (+8.4 percent), and Kyrgyzstan supplied 1.7 billion kWh (+5.6 times).
