BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, December 19. A small hydroelectric power station (HPS) is under construction on the Boz-Uchuk river in the Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan with the support of the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund (RKDF), Trend reports.
According to the fund, the project aims to cover the energy deficit in the country, with a total cost of $4.8 million, out of which $3.3 million comes from the RKDF financing.
It was noted that the station's power capacity will reach 5.43 megawatts, generating an annual output of 26.9 million kilowatt-hours, which will cover 28 percent of the electricity needs of the residents in the Ak-Suu district.
Modern high-tech equipment will be utilized at the facility, and the construction is scheduled to be completed by the autumn of 2025.
"This is our company's first project to construct a small hydroelectric power station. The support from RKDF will enable us to acquire hydroelectric equipment and pipes and carry out construction and installation work," said Ulukbek Jumashev, director of "Ananyevo HPP" LLC.
"Over the last 2.5 years, RKDF has accumulated significant expertise in hydroenergy. Our implemented projects have already made a significant contribution to strengthening Kyrgyzstan's energy independence. However, we do not stop there; there are many more significant and exciting projects ahead in this field," emphasized Artem Novikov, Chairman of the RKDF's Board of Directors.
