The parliament of Turkmenistan has adopted the resolution "On national system of chronology in Turkmenistan". Under the resolution, Turkmenistan will return to universally recognized names of months: January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December starting July 1, 2008 reported Tukmenistan.ru.
The resolution also establishes the following national names for the days of week: the first day - Dushenbe, the second day - Sishenbe; the third day - Charshenbe; the fourth day - Penshenbe; the fifth day - Anna; the sixth day - Shenbe; the seventh day - Yeksenbe.
The Gregorian calendar is widely used in international agreements and letters in conditions of forming a qualitatively new model of global cooperation based on principles of recognition of national interests, the Turkmenistan.ru correspondent was told in the national parliament.
In this connection, the Mejlis of Turkmenistan considers it expedient to return to universally accepted Gregorian calendar that for many centuries occupied a significant place in the Turkmen literature, historical, official and archive sources.
