Turkmen president approves concept of Turkmenistan's CIS presidency in 2012

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov signed a decree "On issues related to the Turkmenistan's presidency in the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2012," the Turkmen government said on Saturday.

The document approved the concept of Turkmenistan's presidency in the CIS.
In addition to a meeting of the Council of Heads of States of the CIS member countries in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan will preside over the meetings of the Council of Heads of Governments and the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CIS member countries, the Economic Council, the Council of Permanent Authorized Representatives of CIS member countries under statutory and other bodies of the CIS in 2012.

The last governmental meeting discussed preparation of these events.

"Turkmenistan's presidency in the CIS as honorable duty for our country, however, imposes on us a greater responsibility, including holding all envisaged events of the CIS at the highest organizational level," Berdimuhammadov said.

According to the decree, composition of the organizing committee on preparation and conduct of protocol meetings of the CIS and other departments, as well as the events to be held in Turkmenistan within the CIS in 2012 was approved.
