A mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is assisting tax reforms in Uzbekistan, the Finance Ministry of Uzbekistan announced March 2.
The IMF mission researched the tax system of Uzbekistan for 10 days and presented preliminary recommendations on its further development.
Summarizing their work, the IMF experts held a seminar for officials of the National Project Management Agency, Finance Ministry, Economy Ministry, State Tax Committee, State Customs Committee, Trade and Industrial Chamber, auditors and tax consultants.
The Finance Ministry stressed that this is the first case of cooperation in the tax policy sphere between the Uzbek government and the IMF Finance Department.
Uzbekistan will join the Enhanced General Data Dissemination System (e-GDDS) of the International Monetary Fund on May 1, 2018.
The IMF Statistics Department mission visited Tashkent on Feb. 21-March 1 for technical assistance in Uzbekistan's joining the e-GDDS.
