A framework agreement on activity of the European Investment Bank (EIB) has come into force in Uzbekistan on Feb. 28, 2018, press-office of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry announced.
Earlier, Uzbekistan and the EIB signed the framework agreement in Washington on Oct. 13, 2017.
The framework agreement has created a legal basis for the EIB’s operation in Uzbekistan, according to the announcement.
The document will allow to use the financial instruments of the EIB for implementation of socially important projects in Uzbekistan and will serve for further development of financial and technical cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Union.
Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved the framework agreement between Uzbekistan and the EIB concerning the bank’s operation in Uzbekistan on Jan. 4, 2018.
The head of state set the State Investment Committee as a responsible body for the cooperation with the EIB and implementation of the international agreement.
