( Irna ) - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Wednesday that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov visited Iran to follow up previous agreements on major regional and international issues made during President Vladimir Putin's trip to Tehran in mid October.
Lavrov's visit to Tehran took place within the framework of bilateral relations, the president added.
The Russian foreign minister left Tehran for Moscow early Wednesday morning at the end of his day-long visit to Iran during which he met with President Ahmadinejad and his Iranian counterpart Manouchehr Mottaki.
Lavrov also submitted a message from President Putin to his Iranian counterpart.
Speaking to reporters at the end of a cabinet session, President Ahmadinejad said that his meeting with Lavrov was indeed a session of exchanging views in continuation with what he had previously discussed with President Putin for taking some measures at regional and international levels.
