Iran's flag carrier Iran Air needs to acquire 50 narrow-body passenger airplanes within the next 10 years, a senior Iranian aviation official said.
Iran Air CEO Farhad Parvaresh has said that there are over 60 small airports in Iran which need narrow-body airplanes to increase their capacity for serving passengers, IRNA news agency reported.
According to him, currently there are talks underway with ATR to purchase 20 light passenger planes from the France-based company.
Farhad Parvaresh added that this number of ATR planes will meet 60 percent of Iran’s need for light passenger aircraft.
According to media reports, the French aircraft manufacturer and Iran earlier in February agreed on the draft of a deal on the Islamic Republic’s purchase of 20 ATR airplanes.
