Georgian government to allocate more than $3 million to overcome the consequences of flooding

Georgian government will provide five million lari ($ 1 = 1.64 lari) in the first phase for the rehabilitation of infrastructure damaged due to the flooding in Tbilisi and other regions of Eastern Georgia, Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri said at emergency cabinet meeting on Monday.

He noted that this money will mainly be directed for the rehabilitation of roads, bridges, water supply and rehabilitation of power facilities.

Gilauri said it is just the first sum, which required for urgent work. "Subsequently damage to people will be calculated, and additional funds will be accumulated to help them" the prime minister added.

The President of Georgia today ordered the government to calculate the possibility of the state budget and provide all possible assistance to flood victims.

Meanwhile hailstorm in several villages of the region of Kakheti in eastern Georgia, destroyed crops and caused the flood in the four villages.

Heavy rains is expected on the night of Tuesday.
