Authorities in Libya have arrested four Jordanians working in Libya, a spokesman for Jordan's Foreign Ministry said Monday, DPA reported.
The spokesman, Mohammad Kayed, did not provide details of the reason or circumstances surrounding their arrests.
"Urgent instructions have been issued to the Jordanian embassy in Tripoli to establish immediate contacts with the Libyan authorities to ensure respect for their basic rights of the detainees under universally observed laws as well as their swift release," Kayed said.
Thousands of Jordanians are working in Libya.
