( dpa ) - Troubled British rock singer Pete Doherty was Tuesday jailed for 14 weeks by a court in London for non-compliance with a ban on drug use and for failing to appear on time for probation hearings.
The 29-year-old Babyshambles frontman and former boyfriend of supermodel Kate Moss was sentenced while attending a session at West London Magistrates Court.
A spokesperson for the court said that Doherty had been jailed for "breach of time keeping, non-compliance of his order and using different drugs".
A statement from his record company, Parlophone Records, confirming the sentence, said Doherty would have to postpone a show planned in London for April 26.
He is also scheduled to appear at the Glastonbury rock festival at the end of June.
Doherty had been given a suspended jail sentence for possession of drugs and driving illegally last October.
His supervision order required him to make regular visits to court for progress reports, as well as take part in a drug rehabilitation programme.
He was threatened with up to four months in jail if he broke the law during this period.
A spokesman for Doherty said the singer was "looking into grounds for appeal."
