The 11th Dubai Summer Surprises festival, to be launched on June 19, will have a special section for children, the executive director of the festival said on Wednesday.
"There will be a children's Olympics in order to improve children's spirit of competition and team work," Laila Suhail told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa.
Suhail added that children will light their own Olympic torch and carry it around the shop market in Dubai. The event will be held at the same time as the Olympics in China.
Throughout the festival, which will last for 65 days, there will also be a children's fashion show and several plays will be performed by youngsters.
"This year festival includes more than 100 events, varying between exhibitions and competitions," Suhail told dpa .
The festival includes an exhibition where all exhibited items are to be made of chocolate and a chef competition where chefs from the Gulf states will present different dishes that reflect the different cultures of the Arab world.
