The Civil Aeronautics Authority (AAC) of Panama said on Monday that a Cessna 206 light aircraft, with five people aboard, crashed on Monday near Cebaco island in the province of Veraguas, east of Panama City, Xinhua reported.
According to preliminary reports, the plane, with HP 1367 license, crashed at 10 a.m. local time when it was flying from Albrook airport to Panama City. It is not immediately known whether the four passengers and the only pilot survived the crash.
The AAC also said that shortly after the accident they had communication with pilot Pablo Palomino who requested urgent help and the cause of the crash is yet to be decided.
The AAC said that the search and rescue system has been activated with the help of the National System of Civil Protection and the police.
