Both pilots aboard a Russian MiG-31 fighter jet which crashed were able to eject safely, emergency services told the news agency Interfax on Friday.
The plane reportedly crashed due to a technical fault near the city of Perm, around 1,400 kilometres east of Moscow, DPA reported.
Nobody had been injured and there was no damage to the surrounding area, according to official reports.
A commission from the defence ministry was to investigate the incident.
