Ankara will allocate $5 billion to restore Iraq, the Turkish media quoted the country’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu as saying Feb. 14.

Reportedly, those funds will be allocated mainly for the restoration of Iraq’s infrastructure. The exact date of providing Iraq with financial assistance has not been voiced.

Earlier, Cavusoglu said that Turkey will assist Iraq in restoring infrastructure.

For Turkey, the minister said, it is important to have close and good contacts with neighboring countries.

In January, Cavusoglu visited Iraq, where he mulled regional issues and joint struggle against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
