Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev called on parliamentarians to efficiently consider and approve a bill on energy conservation and increasing energy efficiency.

"I ask you to effectively submit this important issue of energy conservation into consideration," Nazarbayev said.

As an example he cited the South Korean President Lee Myung-bak, who paid an official visit to Astana last week.

"When we spoke about construction of the Balkhash thermal power plant, President Lee Myung-bak said that loss of electricity in networks in Kazakhstan is reaching 20 percent, while in Korea this figure is 4 percent. He said we would also manage without the construction of a new plant if we don't incur losses in electricity supplies," Nazarbayev said.

He recalled that without energy it is impossible to fulfill all the tasks that the country has undertaken within the state program of forced industrial innovative development.
