The official opening ceremony of Kazakhstan's Honorary Consulate and Kazakh Honorary Consul in Romania Petro Lifichiu's taking office was held in the Romanian city of Galati, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry said today.
"The opening of the Kazakh Honorary Consulate in the east of Romania is aimed at further developing the relations between the two countries, expanding the cooperation and intensifying the relations between the regions and industries of the two countries," Kazakh charge d'affaires in Romania Talgat Kaliev said at the opening ceremony.
He said the opening of the consulate testifies to the practical implementation of high-level talks held within Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta's recent visit to Kazakhstan and the beginning of a new stage of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
The representative of the Romanian foreign ministry voiced Romanian Foreign Minister Titus Corlatean's message, stressing that the opening of the Kazakh Honorary Consulate testifies to the high level of relations between the two countries.
According to him, the Romanian government head's recent visit to Astana confirmed that Kazakhstan is Romania's key and reliable partner in Central Asia.
The official opening ceremony was attended by heads and representatives of the administrations of the cities and regions of Braila, Buzau, Constanta, Galati, Tulcea, Vrancea within the consular district, the Romanian Foreign Ministry, the business circles, the clergy and Kazakh students studying in Romania.
Galatz is the largest Romanian port on the Danube River. It has great economic and transport-transit potential.
