BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 19. In response to an inquiry from AZERTAC’s U.S.-based bureau correspondent, the U.S. Department of State’s press service commented on the impact of Armenia’s militarization policy, continued support from former OSCE Minsk Group countries, and the increased assistance from the U.S. and EU to ongoing peace negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Trend reports.
The inquiry also addressed concerns regarding the growing trade and military relations between Armenia and Russia, and their impact on the wider region.
Regarding the increase in U.S. assistance to Armenia, the U.S. Department of State stated: “U.S. assistance to Armenia supports efforts to advance its democratic and economic development, bolster integration into the regional economy, diversify trade, and strengthen resilience in the face of malign influence.”
“We respect Armenia's sovereign right to pursue the relationships it so chooses,” the Department added.
