Production of two thermal power plants in western Iran increases

The production of Shahid Mofateh Thermal Power Plant (TPP) in the of Hamadan Province (western Iran) exceeded 725,000 megawatt hours in the 4th month of the current Iranian year (June 21-July 21, 2020), deputy director of Shahid Mofateh Power Generation Management Company Pejman Akhtari said, Trend reports citing Ministry of Energy of Iran.

The deputy director emphasized that this figure is considered the largest since the commissioning of the station (1993).

Akhtari added that electricity production at Shahid Mofateh TPP increased by 8 percent during first 4 months of current Iranian year (March 20-July 21, 2020), compared to the same period last Iranian year.

"Thus, more than 2 million megawatt hours of electricity was generated at the Shahid Mofateh thermal power plant in four months," he said.

Shahid Mofatteh TPP was put into operation in 1993 on an area of 270 hectares. The power generation of this station is 1,000 megawatt hours.

Akhthari said that electricity production at the Dorud Thermal Power Plant in the Lorestan Province (western Iran) has increased by 105 percent over the past four months compared to the same period last Iranian year.

The deputy director stressed that over 62,000 megawatt hours of electricity was generated at Dorud TPP during 4 months.

"In the 4th month, Dorud TPP generated 32,000 megawatts of electricity, and so monthly record was breaking the at the TPP," he said.

The Dorud TPP in Iran's Lorestan Province has the capacity to generate 90 megawatt hours of electricity.
