Uzbekistan to attract Malaysian experts for development of agriculture

Uzbekistan will attract Malaysian experts to ensure full and timely implementation of the tasks provided for in the Strategy for the Development of Agriculture of Uzbekistan for 2020-2030, Trend reports referring to Uzbek embassy in Malaysia.

With the assistance of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Malaysia, an online ceremony of signing a Memorandum of Understanding was held between the Uzbek Scientific and Production Center for Agriculture under the Ministry of Agriculture and the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI).

The document provides for the development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Malaysia in the field of joint research work in the agricultural industry, in particular, the exchange of experience and advanced training of employees and researchers in this field at short-term training courses, joint design and survey work to ensure the commercialization of innovative developments, consideration of the possibility of creating a joint laboratory to conduct research to identify new highly productive types of seeds and crops.

In accordance with the memorandum, the involvement of Malaysian experts will be provided to ensure the full and timely implementation of the tasks provided for in the Agriculture Development Strategy of Uzbekistan for 2020-2030, which is the basis for the stable growth of the country's agri-food sector.

MARDI was founded by the decision of the government of Malaysia in 1969 to conduct research and commercialization in the field of identifying new highly productive varieties of agricultural products, introducing modern advanced technological solutions, including in the efficient use of land and water resources, as well as introducing scientific achievements in agricultural industry.
