President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad played down the effectiveness of the US-led western sanctions against Iran, and said that the Iranian nation will not give in its indispensible right to nuclear technology under the West's pressures, IRNA reported.
President Ahmadinejad made the remarks in his first meeting with the Iranian lawmakers in the new Iranian year and after the Norouz holidays.
'The Iranian nation has proved that it will not quit its principles and ideals under the pressures and psychological war,' Ahmadinejad said.
He noted that the government and parliament should have consensus in order to be able to overcome the pressures.
'Although the enemy has sanctioned, but it is possible to nullify these sanctions in such a way that they will become ashamed in the world on the condition that several big infrastructural and brave decisions are taken and executed.
The Iranian president further said that the enemies' efforts are aimed at disappointing our people, but when the people come to the scene everything changes, hence everyone is entitled to change direction towards high turnout of the voters in the upcoming June elections.
