Azerbaijan is a tolerant country, and Israel is interested in the development of cooperation with the country, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry quotes Speaker of the Israeli Knesset Yuli Edelstein as saying during his meeting with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov.
At the meeting held within Mammadyarov's official visit to Israel and Palestine, Mammadyarov stressed the importance of the visit for the development of cooperation between the two countries.
Representatives of Azerbaijani Jewish organisations hailed high level tolerance in Azerbaijan.
Satisfaction with the level of relations between the two countries was expressed at the meeting between Elmar Mammadyarov and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and the sides discussed the situation in the Middle East and issues of mutual interest, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.
Mammadyarov left for the Middle East countries on April 21.
As the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said, the delegation led by Mammadyarov will hold meetings with the leadership of Israel and Palestine in the region on April 21-23.
During the meeting, as a member of the UN Security Council, Azerbaijan will discuss the Middle East peace process with Palestine and Israel, as well as the possibility of enhancing bilateral relations, cooperation within international organisations, economic, trade and cultural relations.
