BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 30. The 29th annual conference of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) in Baku is hosting a number of meetings with delegations from foreign states and international organizations, Trend reports, citing the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan.

Today, Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev met with a delegation led by Saudi Arabia's Attorney General Sheikh Saud Bin Abdullah Al-Mujib.

During the meeting, Aliyev emphasized the rich history and expanding bilateral relations between the two nations, attributing significant achievements to the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, and King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

Aliyev discussed major reforms in Azerbaijan's prosecutorial bodies and the vital role of the prosecution in the fight against crime in the modern era, highlighting the importance of international cooperation and experience exchange between countries, as well as bilateral visits of the prosecutor's office staff.

He noted that the upcoming COP29 will be crucial in establishing new formats for intergovernmental collaboration.

Expressing satisfaction with Saudi Arabia's participation in the 29th Annual Conference and General Meeting of the International Prosecutors Association (IPA), Aliyev said this will make a great contribution to the development of our relations.

Underlining the historical significance of holding the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in Azerbaijan, Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev presented an invitation letter to the Prosecutor General of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to participate in the high-level plenary session entitled ‘Mobilization of Law Enforcement Agencies to Strengthen the Fight against Climate Change’ organized within COP29 by the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan jointly with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.

Expressing his gratitude for the sincere reception, Sheikh Saud bin Abdullah Al Mujib reaffirmed his commitment to developing relations with Azerbaijan, emphasizing the strong economic, political, social, and cultural ties between the two countries.

The meeting concluded with the signing of a memorandum aimed at enhancing legal cooperation and intensifying existing relations. The delegation's working visit to Azerbaijan is ongoing.
