BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 30. Preliminary results of the feasibility study for the green energy corridor "Caspian-Black Sea-Europe" will be announced within the framework of COP29, Azerbaijan's Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said during the Baku Climate Action Week, Trend reports.

The minister made this statement during the Baku Climate Action Week. He also indicated that a governmental agreement on strategic partnership for the development and transfer of green energy among Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan is expected to be signed soon.

"These corridors will positively impact supply security and the transition to clean energy by establishing regional and intercontinental connections," Shahbazov said.

He noted that, as the country chairing COP29, Azerbaijan is at the helm of initiatives that are paving the way for the global energy transition.

"Three out of 14 initiatives—‘Zones and Corridors for Green Energy,’ ‘Global Storage and Networks of Energy,’ and ‘Hydrogen Declaration’—aim to assist in achieving net-zero energy goals globally and accelerate the energy transition. We believe these initiatives will contribute to achieving the objectives set not only within the framework of COP29 but also worldwide in the coming decades," he emphasized.

Shahbazov mentioned that turning Karabakh and East Zangezur into a green energy zone is a feather in the cap for climate action efforts.

He highlighted that this development model encompasses all components of the energy transition, making the region a zero-emission area, including Nakhchivan.

İt was noted that with the laying of the groundwork for renewable energy sources in Karabakh, East Zangezur, and Nakhchivan, fresh avenues for exporting green energy are also on the drawing board.

"This will be the next stage of the energy transition of Azerbaijan, and it will also be based on the development of the huge energy potential of the Caspian Sea, renewable energy on land and the construction of new energy corridors. Azerbaijan will turn into a supplier of green energy along the corridors "Caspian-Black Sea-Europe", "Azerbaijan -Türkiye-Europe" through Nakhchivan, as well as the green energy corridors "Central Asia-Azerbaijan-Europe". These corridors will ensure the export of 5 GW of green energy and green gases (hydrogen) to Europe and Türkiye," Shahbazov added.
