Turkish Erzurum Airport reduces cargo, passenger traffic in 10M2020

As many as 4,463 tons of cargo were transported via Turkey’s Erzurum Airport from January through October 2020, down by 35 percent compared to the same period of 2019, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey told Trend.

According to the ministry, in the reporting period, the country’s domestic flights transported 4,430 tons of cargo, showing a 34-percent drop over the year.

At the same time, 33 tons of cargo were transported through the Erzurum Airport by international flights, having plunged by 77 percent year-on-year, the ministry said.

The airport served 468,559 passengers during the past ten months of this year, which is 44 percent less than in the same period of last year.

Some 466,505 passengers were served on domestic flights over this period, while a year earlier this indicator was 44 percent less.

From January through October 2020, 2,054 passengers were served on international flights, which is 67 percent less compared to the same months of last year.

Meanwhile, 4,138 flights were carried out through Erzurum Airport, which is 30 percent less than in the same period in 2019.

During this period, 4,025 flights were carried out on domestic flights, which is 30 percent less than in the same period in 2019.

International flights via Ankara Erzurum Airport declined by 20 percent over the year, amounting to 113 flights.

From January through October 2020, air traffic in Turkey decreased by 45.9 percent and amounted to 722,084 flights. Meanwhile, over 70.5 million passengers were served at all Turkish airports.

In the reporting period, more than 1.9 million tons of cargo were transported through all airports in the country.
