Baku, Azerbaijan, June 29
By Maksim Tsurkov – Trend:
SOCAR Gas, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR, sold 1.2 billion cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas in the Turkish market in 2015, said Vagif Aliyev, head of SOCAR investments department.
Aliyev made the statement at a meeting with the representatives of NGOs in Baku.
He added that some part of the volume was used for the needs of Turkey’s Petkim petrochemical complex.
“Some 330.4 million cubic meters of gas were sold in the first quarter of 2016 and as a result, an income of $84.2 million was obtained,” said Aliyev.
Azerbaijan supplied 6.17 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Turkey in 2015, as compared to 6.07 billion cubic meters in 2014.
Turkey imports gas from Azerbaijan via the South Caucasus Pipeline (Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum). The country has a contract for purchasing 6.6 billion cubic meters of gas per year from Azerbaijan’s Shah Deniz gas and condensate field.
SOCAR has a share in Petkim.
Petkim produces plastic packages, fabrics, detergents, and is the sole Turkish manufacturer of such products, a quarter of which is exported.
