Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has dismissed presence of its battalions in Syria, ISNA news agency reported.

"Iran only has advisors in Syria, to transfer its military experience to Syrian army, head of Public Relations department of IRGC, General Ramazan Sharif said on Nov. 4.

Earlier Iranian MP, Javad Ghoddousi Karimi claimed that Iran has military presence in Syria.

Hundreds of Iranian battalions are in Syria, member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Iran's Parliament said on November 3.

Syrian commanders, backed by Iranian forces, announce army's victories against opposition, Ghoddousi Karimi added.

Sharif also criticized both Karimi and Iranian media, saying that officials and media should be sensitive on issues which may be used by enemies` media in psychological war.

Iranian Mehr news agency reported earlier on Nov. 4 that a high-ranking Iranian IRGC general Mohammad Jamalizadeh Paghaleh was killed in Syria by the opposition forces.

Syria has been gripped by deadly unrest since March 2011, with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees putting the number of Syrian refugees at two million.

The UN refugee agency further said some 4.2 million people have also been displaced inside Syria since the beginning of the conflict in the Arab country.

Iran is a close ally of the Syrian government and it always shows its support for the regime of Syrian President Bashar al Assad.
