Ambassador: Turkey Investigates Incident between Frontier-Guards of Azerbaijan and Citizens of Turkey

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend I.Alizade / The Ambassador of Turkey to Azerbaijan, Huseyn Avny Garslioglu, informed Trend on 27 April that the Embassy of Turkey in Azerbaijan investigates the incident occurred on 26 April on Azerbaijani-Georgian border between the frontier-guards of Azerbaijan and citizens of Turkey.

The Ambassador said that they are worried by the incident. "I have given necessary tasks to the employees of the Embassy to investigate and keep under control the issue. We regret for this incident," the Ambassador said.

Touching upon the issue that the Azerbaijani frontier-guards have injured the Turkish citizens, Kurds by nationality, Garslioglu said that they have not completed their investigations yet. In addition, the Ambassador stressed that the information on mass flow of the Turkish citizens, Kurds by nationality, does not correspond to reality. "People may come from Turkey to Azerbaijan, but it is not of mass character. Part of them is not citizens of Turkey, but other countries," the diplomat said.

Three frontier-guards of Azerbaijan wounded as a result of the incident between the soldiers of the State Border Service and citizens of Turkey. In addition, two citizens of Turkey wounded.
