Azerbaijan discloses volume of imported crude oil from Turkmenistan

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, June 25. Azerbaijan imported over 61,000 tons of crude oil from Turkmenistan from January through April this year, Trend reports.

As to the Azerbaijan State Statistical Committee, the amount of Turkmenistan crude oil imported was five times lower than in the first quarter of 2023, when it was nearly 314,500 tons.

In monetary terms, Azerbaijan's purchases of crude oil from Turkmenistan from January through April of this year amounted to $35.3 million, which is also five times less than in the same period of 2023, when they amounted to $188.8 million.

During the specified period, Turkmenistan accounted for 13 percent of the total volume of purchases of crude oil by Azerbaijan from foreign countries, both in tonnage and in monetary terms.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijan procured 551,680 tons of crude oil from Turkmenistan in the entirety of 2023, marking a 56.4 percent increase compared to 2022 (352,715 tons).

The volume of purchases of crude oil by Azerbaijan from Turkmenistan in monetary terms in the previous year amounted to $317.54 million, which is 29.5 percent more than in the same period of 2022, when it amounted to $245.14 million.
