Turkmenistan sees growth in trade turnover with EU

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 25. The trade turnover between Turkmenistan and the EU member states over the period of January through March this year exceeded 263.1 million euros, a source at Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, told Trend.

According to the data, during the reporting period, the total amount of trade turnover between Turkmenistan and the EU countries increased by more than 26 percent compared to the first three months of 2023, which amounted to almost 208 million euros.

Turkmenistan's exports to EU countries from January through March 2024 exceeded 124.8 million euros, which is 61 percent more than in the corresponding months of 2023, when they amounted to 77.5 million euros.

At the same time, during the reporting period, Turkmenistan's imports from EU countries increased by 6 percent compared to the period from January through March last year (130.4 million euros), reaching a total of 138.3 million euros.

Meanwhile, the trade volume between Turkmenistan and the EU nations in 2023 reached 1.87 billion euros, which is nearly 87 percent higher than in 2022, when it stood at 1 billion euros.

The total amount of trade turnover between Turkmenistan and the EU countries from the beginning of 2018 to the end of 2023 amounted to more than 6.55 billion euros.
