Volume of trade turnover in Azerbaijan's Baku shots up

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 25. The volume of trade turnover in Baku from January through May 2024 increased by 4.3 percent compared to the figure in 2023 and amounted to 12.5 billion manat ($7.3 billion), Trend reports.

According to the Baku City Statistics Department, sales of food, beverages, and tobacco products in Baku's trade network grew by 2.5 percent in the reporting period compared to the same period in 2023 to 6.6 billion manat ($3.8 billion).

Besides, sales of non-food products grew by 6.3 percent to 5.8 billion manat ($3.4 billion).

Departmental data shows that 15.4 percent of the products supplied came from capital markets, 46.3 percent came from trade objects held by individual entrepreneurs, and 38.3 percent came from businesses having legal entity status.

To note, the volume of trade turnover in Baku in 2023 increased by 7.6 percent compared to the figure in 2022 and amounted to 35.5 billion manat ($20.8 billion).
