Trend S.Ilhamgizi / The Governmental dependence of several parties who work as opposition, but do not implement the mission of the opposition will appear on the eve of the 2008 Presidential elections in Azerbaijan, the Chairman of opposition Azerbaijan National Democracy Party, Iskandar Hamidov, reported to Trend on 3n October.
According to him, the combination of the opposition parties in the upcoming Presidential elections is impossible. "Several opposition parties function by Governmental finance and other parts through foreign funds. The material dependence decreases their political freedom," Hamidov said.
According to him, the Government tries to break and weaken the opposition through foreign funds. Therefore, as a result, parties functioning through foreign funds serve the interests of the Government, he added. According to Hamidov, the foreign political forces have their own interests in Azerbaijan. "International practice shows that strong and rich countries try to influence weak countries with their funds. The opposition parties of Azerbaijan financed by foreign funds are also under their influence," Hamidov said.
