BAKU, Azerbaijan, Oct.6

Trend:

Azerbaijan avoided serious consequences of the Delta wave thanks to the high vaccination level, Renaissance Capital analytical agency told Trend on Oct.6.

According to the agency, the CIS+ countries see a mixed dynamic of new COVID-19 cases.

"While in Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan the situation is improving, in Armenia, Belarus, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine, new cases are on the rise again," the agency said.

Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan have gone through the Delta wave earlier and, thanks to a higher level of vaccination, avoided tough restrictions.

The first case of coronavirus infection was recorded in Azerbaijan on February 28, 2020. The vaccination process in the country started on January 18, 2021.

According to the latest data, two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been injected into nearly four million people in Azerbaijan.

As to date, vaccination against COVID-19 with Sinovac, Pfizer and Sputnik V drugs is available in the country.
