ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 1. Kazakhstan and European Parliament delegation has discussed the issue of simplification of EU visa requirements for Kazakh citizens, Trend reports

Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Alibek Bakayev, met with the Chair of the European Parliament Delegation for Relations with Central Asia and Mongolia, Giuseppina Princi.

Highlighting the high dynamics of political contacts and the productive work of the Parliamentary Cooperation Committee "Republic of Kazakhstan – European Union," both sides expressed a mutual desire to further strengthen Kazakh-European partnership.

The Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation on issues of mutual interest, including green energy, rare earth minerals, and transport connectivity.

Additionally, during the discussion, representatives from the ministries of justice, culture, and information of Kazakhstan informed the European deputies about the measures being taken by the Kazakh government in the area of human rights protection and the rule of law.

At the end of the meeting, Alibek Bakayev wished the European Parliament delegation a productive visit and expressed hope for the swift achievement of practical results.

The European Union and Kazakhstan have been partners since the country's independence in 1991. In December 2015, the European Union and Kazakhstan signed an Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (EPCA). This new Agreement, the first of its kind with a Central Asian partner, brought relations between the EU and Kazakhstan to a new level and represented an important milestone in more than 25 years of EU-Kazakhstan relations.
