By Jeila Aliyeva - Trend:

The volume of Turkmen-Russian trade will amount to $1 billion by the end of this year, said Alexander Blokhin, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Turkmenistan, Trend reports with reference to Arzuw NEWS information portal.

Blokhin noted that despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Russian-Turkmen trade and economic relations have developed dynamically.

The ambassador added that Russia has increased supplies to Turkmenistan of industrial and chemical products, food, metal products, machinery, equipment, wood, etc. In turn, Turkmenistan has also increased exports to the Russian Federation, in particular chemical products, food products, agricultural raw materials, etc.

A number of joint projects are already being implemented, several agreements and memorandums on cooperation in energy and shipbuilding have been signed, said the ambassador.

As earlier the Russian Ministry of Agriculture told Trend, the trade turnover increased almost 2 times in 1H2020, compared to the same period in 2019, and amounted to $87 million.

In general, the intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation and its high-level group on trade and investment support an important role in the development of trade and economic relations between the two countries.

Trade and economic cooperation between Russia and Turkmenistan, which is the most important component of bilateral relations, is characterized by multidimensional and progressive development.
