By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Despite the pandemic challenges, Kazakh investment projects worth $30 million are implemented without obstacles in Georgia, Trend reports via Georgian media.

"Other new projects of $70 million are being prepared, including for Shovi Balneology Resort development," Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan in Georgia Giorgi Jakhutashvili noted.

The active working process is continued with various governmental offices of Georgia to foster the development of companies with Kazakh investments and launch new investment and trade projects in Georgia, Jakhutashvili added.

“The situation has worsened in not only Georgia but also in the whole world. All of us should take efforts to alleviate and improve the current situation. We must create an economy with constant revenues by maintaining and growing foreign direct investments. One of the key missions of me, as the Kazakh Consul in Georgia, is to deepen economic relations between Georgia and Kazakhstan, and attracting investments is an inseparable part of this mission,” Jakhutashvili noted.

Around 30 companies established with Kazakh investments operate in Georgia and total investments exceed $450 million. These companies employ more than 3,500 persons, the Kazakh Consul in Georgia noted.

According to him, investment projects of around $30 million are implemented without obstacles, while several new projects of $70 million are being prepared, including for Shovi Balneology Resort development.

"There are certain obstacles too. For instance, the limited air communication makes investors refrain from visiting Georgia and this factor frustrates the decision-making process. I have been actively cooperating with the Government of Georgia, Ministry of Economy, other governmental chains to tackle the current and system problems. We have consolidated efforts to shape an investment-friendly environment. We have been working on all opportunities to implement new investment and trade projects”, Jakhutashvili pointed out.
