Azerbaijan reduces payment transactions via IFRS standards

Some 85,000 transactions on payments in the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) were carried out in Azerbaijan at the beginning of November 2020, Trend reports with reference to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

The number of operations performed under IFRS amounted to 17.04 billion manat ($10.02 billion), which is 17.1 percent less than om the same period of the previous year.

Slightly over 5 million transactions were conducted in the amount of 2.5 billion manat ($1.47 billion) through the settlement clearing system for small payments, which reflects a decrease in annual circulation by 0.55 percent.

As of the beginning of October this year, banks' receipts through high-speed money transfer systems amounted to 140.2 million manat ($82.47 million), which means a decline of 26.3 percent year-on-year. Some 75,400 transactions were made on money transfers outside the bank in the amount of 67.8 million manat ($39.9 million), which is 22.4 percent less than in the same period of last year.

As of the beginning of November 2020, the turnover on debit and credit cards through ATMs and POS terminals in Azerbaijan amounted to nearly 2.4 billion manat ($1.4 billion), which is 9.6 percent more than the previous indicator.
