Kazakhstan reports significant decreases in volume of transporting passenger

A total of 350.6 million passengers were transported in Kazakhstan by all means of transport in Nov. 2020, which is 83 percent less than in Nov. 2019, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

In turn, the volume of passengers transported over 11 months of 2020 amounted to 8 billion people, which is 63.1 percent less year-on-year compared to 21.7 billion over the same period of last year.

Thus, the majority of the passengers were transported to Kazakhstan’s Almaty city. The number of passengers transported in the region amounted to 103.9 million people in November and 1.8 billion people over 11 months of 2020, which is 79.5 percent and 63.7 percent less than during the same period last year, respectively.

Almaty city is followed by the Pavlodar region with 32.2 million people transported in Nov. 2020 (decrease of 69 percent compared to Nov. 2019). The number of passengers transported in the region during the reporting period amounted to 539.1 million people, which compared to 1.1 billion during the same period last year, indicates a 52.3 percent decrease.

East Kazakhstan region takes third place country-wide by the passengers transported in Nov. 2020 (32.04 million people, down by 76.7 percent). The number of passengers transported in the region over 11 months of 2020 amounted to 688.8 million, which is 5 percent less than during the same period last year (1.4 billion people).

The least passenger volume was transported in the Mangystau region. The transported passenger volume stood at 1.4 million passengers in Nov. 2020, which is 82.8 percent less than in Nov. 2019. The volume of passengers transported over 11 months of 2020 was 29.7 million, which is 63.8 percent less year-on-year.
