ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 6. Turkmenistan increased imports of forest products from the Perm region of Russia by 21 percent, Trend reports.
Over 8,700 cubic meters of forest products were shipped from the region to Turkmenistan last year, which is 21 percent more than in the same period last year (over 7,200 cubic meters).
In total, 108 phytosanitary certificates were issued within the framework of export-import transactions.
The Perm region is one of the largest producers of lumber and is a leader in the extraction of timber products characterized by high quality. In Turkmenistan, raw wood is processed for the production of furniture and use for construction purposes.
Meanwhile, the region exports wood and other related products not only to Turkmenistan, but also to Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Afghanistan.
