"The Netherlands recognizes Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty and does not intend to recognize independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia," Dutch Foreign Minister Maxime Verhagen said after meeting with Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vasahdze in Tbilisi on Feb. 11.
My country is one of the biggest donors of Georgia, as well as those international financial institutes rendering economic aid to Georgia, Verhagen said. "Holland assisted Georgia to avoid negative consequences of August war," he said.
Together with the EU, Holland will make all actions to turn Georgia into "a country of European level with liberal-democratic foundations," Verhagen said. He stressed importance of EU observers' stay in Georgia on administrative borders with separatists.
"It is necessary that monitors to move through all Georgian territory," he said.
On Feb. 12 Verhagen will meet with refugees from South Ossetia living in Gori.
