Kazakhstan improved its indicators by 10 positions, rising from 38th to 28th place among 193 countries on the United Nations ranking of e-government development, the press service of the Agency for Communication and Information reported.
The index of the e-government development consists of indicators on human capital, telecommunications infrastructure and online services. Today, the indicators on computer literacy of the population accounted for 63.2%, while the level of broadband Internet access in the country is 67.6%.
"The formed infrastructure of the e-government for today, allows Kazakhs to get 570 services through the e-government portal. If the portal provided services to 38 million in 2013, the number of provided services since the beginning of the current year has reached 22.8 million. The portal is visited on average by 43,000 users daily," the report said.
Applying for a scholarship to "Bolashak", to queue for kindergarten, write authorization for driving, payment for utility services, fines, taxes, to change the ID in the presence of electronic digital signature (EDS) can be done through e-government portal without leaving home.
"As part of the next stage of development of e-government, work is underway to introduce mobile government, which will provide services via mobile devices, including traditional phones. More than 50 services will be available through mobile devices by the end of the year," the reported noted.
Meanwhile, the rapid development of e-government, as well as high ratings of the country in the international ICT rankings secured the right for Kazakhstan to hold Global e-Government Forum 2014 in Astana in October, which will bring together leading international experts in the field of information and communication technologies and the development of e-government. The forum was initiated by the UN and was first held in 2012 in South Korea, which is leader of the UN rating for e- government.
