Foreigners who will come to the Eurovision 2012 song contest will be able to see firsthand the rich culture and art of Azerbaijan, people's artist, mugham singer Alim Gasimov told Trend on Wednesday.

"Earlier, we tried through the media to convey to the world information about Azerbaijan, to present in other countries all aspects of culture of Azerbaijan. Now foreigners will be able to see firsthand our culture," he said.

He said the sound of mugham at Eurovision will also play an important role in presenting rich culture of Azerbaijan to the world.

Speaking of the Baku Crystal Hall, built on the National Flag Square, Alim Gasimov noted that this building gives a special beauty to the coast of Baku.

"Baku Crystal Hall is like a star on the coast of Azerbaijan," he said.

The 57th Eurovision Song Contest will be held in the Baku Crystal Hall near State Flag Square. The semi-finals will be held in Baku on May 22 and May 24 and the final on May 26. The logo for the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest is 'Fire Flower', while the motto is Light your fire.

Azerbaijan won the right to host the prestigious European song contest after the victory of Eldar Gasimov and Nigar Jamal (Ell / Nikki) at Eurovision 2011 in Dusseldorf, Germany last May.
