Ruling Yeni Azerbaijan Party Charge Opposition with Foreign Forces Cooperation

Azerbaijan, Baku, 30 March / Trend corr. G.Jabiyev/ The ruling Yeni Azerbaijan Party (YAP) charges opposition with the cooperation with foreign forces.

"Opposition continue to rest not on people, but on foreign forces," MP Mubariz Gurbanli, the Deputy Secretary of YAP, stated to Trend on 30 March.

The presidential elections will be held in Azerbaijan in October 2008. Opposition leaders stated that the expectations of the West towards the government after the presidential elections in 2003 were not justified.

"West or North does not define the policy of our country, as well as mood and choice of population. Foreign states have their own political interest.

According to MP, Azerbaijan chooses democratic way not for interests of foreign forces. The destiny of the government depends on voters.

Ali Aliyev, the Co-chairman of opposition bloc Azadlig and chairman of Citizen and Development party, considers ungrounded blames by ruling party. If the government has evidences it may settle the issue through court

YAP was founded in Nakhchivan on 1992. The All-Nation Leader, late Ex-President Heydar Aliyev was the first Chairman of the Party. President Ilham Aliyev is the present Chairman of the Party, which has been the ruling one for 14 years.

YAP wil nominate the candidature of the President Ilham Aliyev in the upcoming presidential elections.

Azadlig unites three opposition parties Popuar Front, Liberal and Citizen and Development.
