The Georgian opposition demands snap presidential elections be held before snap parliamentary elections.

May 2009 is the best time to hold snap presidential elections, former Georgian Ambassador to the UN and likely presidential candidate Irakli Alasania said.

"I will employ all constitutional methods to change the government peacefully," Alasania said.

He said Georgians are willing to build a united, stable and democratic country.

"Today we will launch a campaign to replace the government by constitutional means and urge the people to support us in our idea," he said.

Alasania said his campaign slogan is the "Future Begins Today."

"Today I introduced my political team which will soon turn into a public and political movement," he said. "I will determine our priorities by the end of the week and with whom we will cooperate closely."
