Kazakhstan expresses its extreme concern about the Democratic People's Republic of Korea's testing nuclear weapons second in the last 3 years, said the official statement of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry in connection with the DPRK's nuclear test on May 25, 2009.
"Kazakhstan is a country that voluntarily renounced nuclear weapons and has made a significant contribution to the process of global disarmament, strongly condemns the continued the practice of conducting nuclear tests, despite appeals by the international community," says the statement.
The statement stressed that Kazakhstan is convinced that this step will have a very negative effect on the process of global non-proliferation and is a threat to security both at regional and global scale.
"Kazakhstan urges North Korea to immediately return to the negotiating table on the nuclear issue in the six-format, including China, Russia, United States, South Korea and Japan, and completely abandon nuclear ambitions," the statement said.
