Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov signed decrees to reshuffle the education system, the Turkmen media reported on Saturday.
Berdimuhammedov dismisses Khidir Saparliyev from the post of the Deputy Prime Minister for science, health, sports and tourism, and from the post of Chairman of the Extraordinary Commission for combating the spread of disease. Saparliyev was appointed the Turkmen Polytechnic Institute Rector.
Saparliyev's duties were assigned to Deputy Prime Minister Gurbanmyrat Mezilov, who will also oversee the development of science and technology in Turkmenistan.
The Altin Asir television channel reported that the changes are linked with "improper organization of the educational work and law quality of students' training in the Turkmen Polytechnic Institute".
Berdimuhammedov also signed decree to dismiss the Deputy Education Minister for higher and secondary professional schools due to weakening of educational work at the university and serious shortcomings in the educational process, the Neytralniy Turkmenistan newspaper reported.
The Education Ministry is tasked to strengthen educational work among young people, in particular, "among university students and provide them with useful and meaningful leisure time."
Berdimuhamedov expressed deep dissatisfaction with the activities of the youth organization of Turkmenistan in connection with the poor and insufficient level of educational work among young people.
