Emir of Kuwait Invites Azerbaijani President to His Country

Kuwait supports Azerbaijan's position on the matter of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh and intends to hold this position till the conclusion. Shahin Abdullayev, the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Kuwait, informed Trend exclusively the position of Kuwait was heard at a meeting between the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, Elmar Mammadyarov and Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah al Ahmed al Sabah. He was commenting on the results of Azerbaijani Foreign Minister's official visit to Kuwait between January 20th and 21st.

Talks held at the top covered all areas of bilateral and international co-operation, the Ambassador stated. The sides held an exchange of opinions on their positions, emphasized the high level of political relationships, and noted the necessity of developing economic and humanitarian sectors, the diplomat added.

The meeting with the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister and the Emir of Kuwait resulted in a letter to the Azerbaijani President, Ilham Aliyev, inviting him to pay an official visit to Kuwait. In return Mr. Mammadyarov invited the Emir to Azerbaijan on behalf of the Azerbaijani leader.

During the visit the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister met with the heir to the throne, the Prime Minister, the Chairman of the Parliament and the Foreign Minister and signed a protocol on co-operation between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries. Mr. Mammadyarov's visit was highlighted in the local media.
