Archeological monuments date from bronze or earlier century were discovered due to collapse of riverside.
A grave was discovered due to collapse of gully where Eyri su river fell into Katekh river near Gamishtala village of Balaken region. The grave is supposedly dated from bronze or earlier century, Akif Mammadli, ethnographer, candidate for a degree of the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences, told Trend on Feb. 16.
Many black and light yellow color dishes were discovered in the grave. Dishes were placed along the dead.
The most interesting thing that ruins of ancient temples are seen. Remains of some ancient temples located 300-500 meters from each other are seen at 1.5 square kilometer area of the territory, Mammadli said.
The Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences was immediately informed about the discovery. Archeological dig will be launched in the territory on the initiative of Mammadli with participation of the Institute's employees arriving in the region on Feb. 16.
Balaken region is situated in the north-west of Azerbaijan, 448 kilometers from Baku.
