Baku Metro completes construction of new technological centre

In March this year the necessary equipment for the construction of a new technological centre of the Baku Metro will be delivered, according to the information placed on the official site of the Baku Underground Railway. The new technological office will provide management, organisation and traffic control, as well as passengers' safety in the Baku Metro.

The equipment is mainly Canadian and the installation will be conducted with the participation of Ukrainian company LOT.

"Soon the final stage of construction of the new technological centre will start and then Baku Metro will start its equipping," the report says.

For the time being the length of Baku Metro line is 34.6 km. There are two metro lines now.

In future it is planned to have five Metro lines with a length up to 119 km and 76 stations.

Baku Metro began operating in1967 and has currently 23 stations. Earlier, the programme for a 20-year development of Baku Metro was adopted.
