Production of over 37,000 tons of paving bitumen per year has been organized at an oil refinery in the town of Seydi in the east of Turkmenistan, the country's oil and gas complex said in a message Aug. 8.
“Nearly 19,000 tons of high quality paving bitumen was produced from oil feedstocks for seven months,” said the message.
Production of bitumen, a binding material, is primarily used in the construction and road pavement repair, it started with the commissioning of the rig built by Westport Trading Europe Limited (US).
Bitumen is obtained in several ways at the rig which consists of three sections - vacuum distillation of fuel oil, visbreaking (viscosity reduction, viscosity breaking) of tar and oxidation section.
